A new study shows a whopping increase in the number of drug-overdose death organ donors over the last 17 years or so. While it is encouraging that more life-saving donor organs are available for patients who are in desperate need of them, the grim underlying reality – that the opioid epidemic is costing more and more lives – cannot be escaped.
