Medtriq provides comprehensive services for treatment of substance use disorders

We provide treatment for opioid dependence and addiction with a medication called Suboxone, which contains Buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is the active part of the medication and is considered a “partial opioid agonist.” This simply means that it produces a milder form of the opioid effect (as compared to other opioids, which are “full agonists” and produce a much stronger effect.)

The advantage of using Suboxone (Buprenorphine/naloxone) is that it fills the brain’s opioid receptors without producing the “high” that other opioids produce. Thus, the potential for abuse is much less. In the meantime, it provides excellent relief from withdrawal symptoms and cravings, making it very effective in getting patients off other opioids.

Another advantage of Suboxone is that it actually binds much more strongly to the brain’s opioid receptors than any of the other opioids do. Thus, it essentially blocks the other opioids from working, and takes away the incentive to use them.

More information available here: SUBOXONE

Vivitrol is an injectable form of naltrexone, which is a pure opioid blocker. It covers the opioid receptors in the brain, preventing any opioids from binding to those receptors. Essentially, this means that opioids cannot exert any effect even if they are used. This takes away the incentive to use opioid drugs.

Oral naltrexone has the same effect. However, the long-term problem with oral naltrexone is that it must be taken daily in order to continue its benefit as the effect only lasts for a day or so. On the other hand, the injectable naltrexone (Vivitrol), lasts for a whole month!

Vivitrol is only appropriate for those patients who have successfully managed to discontinue all opioids, including Suboxone, for at least 7-10 days (or 14 days if coming off of Methadone.)

Addiction is a very complex and multi-faceted condition with wide-ranging consequences. It affects every aspect of a patient’s health from physical symptoms to mental well-being. It also disrupts life in many excruciating ways causing more stress, poor self-esteem, increased depression and anxiety, broken relationships with friends and family, and inability to earn a living, to name a few. There is no way that a medication – even one as effective as Suboxone – can by itself help patients fight the scourge of addiction. Counseling plays a large role in recovery.

At Medtriq Treatment Services, we are taking a comprehensive approach to the treatment of addiction.  We strongly believe that counseling must be an integral part of any treatment plan, and that it must incorporate not just chemical dependency but also mental health. This is essential if patients are to find long-lasting solutions to the biggest barriers in their recovery process.

Our counselors are available to help you with a broad range of issues, and are invaluable in helping you gain back the control over your life that has been lost to drugs.

Psychiatric Care

Co-occurring mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD and bipolar disorder, are very common in patients afflicted by addiction. These are chronic conditions that are very closely intertwined with drug addiction, and often form a vicious circle. Addiction perpetuates these mental health issues, which – in turn – make recovery very difficult, if not impossible. Thus, trying to treat one without treating the other seldom works, and patients end up with a string of relapses.

At Medtriq Treatment Services, our goal is your complete recovery. Nothing short of that will do! As such, we have incorporated psychiatric care into our treatment process in order to maximize your chances of success.

Walk-in Medical Care

At Medtriq Treatment Services, we realize that many of our patients live in medically under-served areas, and struggle to take care of their medical needs beyond the addiction issues. We are currently working on incorporating ‘walk-in clinics’ at our existing locations to help bridge some of that gap.

While we will not be able to provide a full-spectrum of primary care, we will be able to start treatment for certain medical conditions and make referrals; as well as provide courtesy refills of medications for those patients who find themselves with a temporary lack of primary care.

Our treatment process begins with a thorough intake appointment during which we gather your medical and substance use history. You will then be evaluated by a physician or nurse practitioner specializing in the treatment of addictive disorders. Most patients are placed on treatment the same day as their first appointment, as long as there are no contraindications to it.

If you are completely off of opioids, you may be a good candidate for Vivitrol.

Your subsequent appointments are designed to assess how effectively the medication is working for you. We also constantly assess any barriers or challenges that you may be facing which are hampering your recovery, and come up with solutions to get you past them.

Counseling and Mental Health Care

Once you have successfully started the medication-assisted treatment, we will get you enrolled in counseling as well as mental health care. From there, it will become an integral part of your treatment plan. Your counselor and mental health providers will work with you to maximize your overall success in the program.

Medtriq Treatment Services is a dedicated and comprehensive addiction treatment clinic

Unlike most other clinics or physicians treating opioid addiction, who tend to do it as a “side” service, our clinic is entirely focused on providing recovery services for drugs and alcohol.

We provide medication-assisted treatment as well as substance use counseling; mental health counseling; and psychiatric care. We accept most insurances, including state insurance. For those without any form of insurance coverage, we accept cash payments and HSA funds.

At Medtriq Treatment Services, you will always be treated with respect and dignity. We have a non-punitive environment, which means you will not be punished or dismissed from treatment just because you are struggling. As long as you are willing to make an effort to get past your addiction, we will support you in every way we can. Your complete recovery is our goal!
